The District Council of Peterborough advises that, due to the Council’s current financial position, Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre and the Peterborough Visitor Information Centre will be temporarily closed while a new operating model is developed. Please note: All existing bookings for groups of more than 10 people will still be honoured.

Council is committed to creating a more sustainable funding model for these valued tourism offerings, with the aim of reopening under a revised structure in time for the 2026 tourist season.

We warmly invite visitors to keep coming to Peterborough, enjoy what our town has to offer, and be part of our community’s story during this transition period.

Information and brochures can be found at the train carriage:
122 Main Street (next to playground)
