SHRC wins 3 Tourism Awards!

SHRC just won the major Tourism Award in the 2012 Advantage SA campaign for the Mid North Yorke region. Last week SHRC also won a Silver medal at the 2012 SATIC Tourism Awards in the category Heritage & Cultural Tourism and a Bronze Award in the attraction section.

W 907 – the largest and heaviest advertising sign in the Flinders Ranges!

On 27th November 2012 Steam-locomotive W907 was shunted out the SHRC yard where 2 cranes lifted the 80 ton Loco onto a flat top trailer and positioned it in the front of the car park at Steamtown as an Icon and eye catcher, to attract more visitors. Come and have a look – it is mesmerising! W 907 was ‘hidden’ for over 25 years in one of the big workshops and SHRC volunteers rejuvenated it over the past few months.

Open House day at Steamtown Sunday 20th January 2013

On Sunday, 20th January 2013, SHRC opens its gates for an “Open House” day, with free admission from 9am to 5.00pm. At night SHRC offers visitors 50% discounted tickets ($10.00 instead of $ 20.00) for the Sound & Light Show, but pre bookings are essential as there are only limited numbers of seats available. (Start at 8.45pm- lasting 1 hour).

Sponsor a window for the Roundhouse

SHRC volunteer Becci Tuckwell had a great idea, when she suggested that SHRC should offer sponsorship deals for the public, to contribute towards the re glassing of the Roundhouse. For only $ 5.00 everyone can purchase a window, will get a certificate and the name will later be published on an honour board. In only two months over 500 windows have been sponsored.8.45pm.
